BARKA UK
Barka UK was established in June 2007 and is affiliated with the Barka Foundation for Mutual Help, which for over twenty years has been working in Poland to help excluded and vulnerable members of the community. Among its many projects, Barka Poland has developed vocational schools for the unemployed and a programme of accessible housing and self-sufficient communities in the countryside, as well as numerous social enterprises.
Objectives
Our client’s aim was to encourage individuals and institutions to offer financial support to Barka UK, alongside raising public awareness about the problem of homelessness amongst immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe in the UK.
Particular objectives included raising funds to support the Free Telephone Helpline, which enables prompt and effective support for vulnerable individuals across the UK, as well as offering referrals to other Barka UK’s services.
Campaign
We organised and managed two fundraising events for Barka UK, which included securing sponsorship and artists. The first event was an auction at the exquisite White House Palace — a property of Prince Jan Zylinski, who built it as a replica of his family house in Poland. The second event was held in The Embassy of Poland in London.
Results
The charity has since been endorsed by the Polish Embassy in London, Prince Jan Zylinski and Lord Roberts of Llandudno, with the events themselves attended by government representatives of Poland, France, Haiti and Romania.
The charity auction raised essential funds to help the organisation maintain their great work in London, and received significant press coverage in many of the biggest Polish media outlets in the UK.
